About Adris Gallery

After opening the first tobacco museum in the country (April 1998) as well as the modernly equipped concert hall (June 2000), on Independence Day, 29 April 2001 at 8 p.m., Adris Group opened the newly constructed Adris Gallery. On this occasion, with the presentation of the ceramic wall by Edo Murtić, and the opening of the exhibit with never before seen paintings by the same artist, a distinguished Zagreb guitar trio held a performance in the concert hall. In his speech before numerous guests, President of the Adris Group Management Board, Ante Vlahović stated:

“The Adris Gallery will undoubtedly, alongside the first tobacco museum in the country and the concert hall, contribute to the affirmation not only of Adris but also of our culture. Furthermore, I dare to state that with time, this gallery will become an inavoidable address and meeting place for artistic beauty. As the creator of this event”, Vlahović continued, “in a special fashion, we would like to prove our devotion to European business trends in which culture has long since become an important communication fact. Only permanent cultural exposure confirms the society, as well as modern business systems. Adris Group is conscious of this and wherever possible has arranged itself as a friend to true values: from supporting renovations of monuments damaged in the Patriotic War to making large exhibits possible. Tonight we are proud that we, with the renovations to the Adris construction complex, considered by many to be the most protected object in the country’s industrial heritage, we have also constructed this gallery, confirming that our business ideals - based on the strictest aesthetic measures - make sense. We did this by following the best in culture with the desire for our business future to unfold in an alliance between culture and industry.”

In thanking everyone who made this project possible, Vlahović especially pointed out the generations of factory employees; architect Dr. Marijan Hržić, the author of the works; and artist Edo Murtić, the author of the ceramic wall and exhibit, who with his artistic excellence and uniqueness allowed our economic success to become a fact of beauty and culture to become an ally of industry. Igor Zidić, distinguished art historian and the director of the Modern Art Gallery in Zagreb , gave a very inspirational speech on the artistic language of Edo Murtić.
